La fuga di radiazioni avvenuta a Černobyl' è una delle dimostrazioni dei danni causati dalle mutazioni. Dopo questa catastrofe, in moltissime persone si sono riscontrati disturbi gravi e permanenti, come varie malattie tra cui la leucemia e malformazioni alla nascita.
