Was the Quran Made into a Book After the Death of Prophet Muhammad?

In the Islamic world, especially in the nearby Sunni geography, the common opinion about how the Quran has come down to the present day is as follows. Prophet Muhammad had the companions he trusted memorise the revelation he received from Almighty Allah, and it was preserved in writing in a scattered state on some pieces of bone, pieces of leather and parchment. After the death of the Messenger, these materials, which were found in pieces in the houses of various companions, were first compiled and made into a book by Abu Bakr, then their multiplication was ensured by Umar, and copies were delivered to people living in newly Muslim geographies.
The most critical point of the telling of hundreds of narrations and of events contradicting one another and the nature of things around this process we have briefly explained is the claim that the Quran was not made into a book before the death of Allah’s messenger Prophet Muhammad….
So how is this situation told in the Quran, the only authentic source of the religion? Was the Quran really made into a book after the death of the Prophet?
First of all, while Allah’s messenger was receiving revelation from Allah and at the stage of conveying its great responsibility to humanity with tremendous meticulousness, by virtue of his being the messenger who is a mercy to the worlds, and under the help and protection of Allah, there is never any doubt that he would, God forbid, make a deficient, excessive or wrong transmission…Because this, as is very clearly stated in the Quran, is a great work that Allah has taken upon Himself.
“Do not, being seized by haste (to grasp and memorise it, the Quran), keep moving your tongue with it. Certainly, gathering it (in your heart) and making it recited (to you) belongs to Us (as a work). So, when We recite it, you follow its recitation. Then certainly, explaining it belongs to Us (as a work).” (Surah Al-Qiyamah, 16-19)
“If that Prophet had attempted to fabricate some words and attribute them to us, certainly we would have seized him with force (and taken revenge on him). Then certainly we would have cut his heart vein. Then no one among you could protect him”
“We will recite to you and you, by Allah’s leave, will not forget.”(Al-A’la, 87/6)
The transmission of the culture of narration comes into play exactly after this point… In many verses of the Quran there is information that Prophet Muhammad personally made the revelation he received from Allah into a book. One of the clearest verses on this subject is …
Surah Al-Muzzammil, verse 4:
Ev zid ‘aleyhi ve rettil-il-kur’ane tertiylen
Rettil: To arrange, to adjust, to put in order, to prepare, to correct, to settle; to plan, to decide, to sequence, to put in sequence, to arrange…
Re-te-le is used for army units marching together. Army units are arranged according to rank order. This word is also used for beautifully lined up teeth.
Tertiylen: Correct arrangement, correct adjustment; correct alignment, good order, tertip, sequence, sequencing, preparation, arrangement, agreement, plan
When there is so clearly the situation of verses and surahs being arranged while the Prophet was alive and under his personal supervision and control, it would be very wrong to trust the weak sources of the culture of narration and say that the Quran was made into a book after the death of the Messenger.
When there is Allah’s clear command, to say that Prophet Muhammad, God forbid, did not carry out this command to arrange and that some others from the companions completed this work is clearly a great error…
The excuses attributed to that period on this subject have no importance either. Making the revelation (the Quran) into a book and carrying out the proclamation is one of the most important works for the Messenger. In doing this, counting the means of the period as an excuse is not very right either. At the beginning yes, but later the Muslims reached an economically comfortable state and were in a position to have papyrus brought from Egypt or paper from China. To say that people engaged in international trade could not get hold of these materials and wrote the verses on pieces of bone or branch only fits the logic of the culture of narration…. Leave all that aside; it is in fact told in those same sources themselves that in Mecca the Arab poets exhibited on the walls of the Kaaba the papers with written poems which they named muallakaat…
Surah At-Tur, verse 2:
Ve kitabim mestur
And by the Book Put into Lines
In this verse too it is very clear that the Quran has been put into lines/made into a book…
Surah Nun 1: By the pen and what they write line by line
At-Tur 1-3 By Tur, by the book written in order on spread-out thin leather pages
What shall we say to these verses. Why are there no verses that speak of the pieces of bone mentioned in the hadiths?…
“No, certainly it is an admonition written on exalted papers, upon which whoever wishes will reflect.”(Abasa, 80/11-14)
Moreover, while it is clear that Allah would not in any case cause Prophet Muhammad to die before finishing His revelation, it is also unthinkable that the Messenger, waiting for the continuing revelation, would not make the Quran into a book…
… Today I have matured your religion for you, completed My blessing upon you and approved islam for you as religion…. (Surah Al-Ma'idah, 3)
To sum up briefly, if we also look at the Quran from the aspect of its being described as ”BOOK” in hundreds of verses, we see very clearly that the Quran, the word of Allah, is the divine message that was made into a book and given its final point personally by the Messenger before the death of Prophet Muhammad… The Quran is the greatest witness to this… We do not have to believe the stories of the culture of narration. We are responsible for reaching the most correct information directly from the word of Allah…
Additional archaeological information:
The thesis defended by some orientalists and historians, that the Quran was made into a book hundreds of years after the death of the Messenger, has also taken a great wound in the scientific sense… The oldest Quran found so far belongs to 20-40 years after the death of the Prophet [649-675] and is located in the library of the University of the city of Tuebingen in Germany. It has been dated to between 649-675, and it is said that it probably belongs to the time of Ali… So a copy has been reached that was written at the latest only 20 years after the death of Prophet Muhammad…In the manuscript the Quran is found from the 17th Surah of the Quran, Surah Al-Isra, up to verse 57 of the 36th surah of the Quran, Surah Ya-Sin.. This definite information is a finding closer to the claim that the Quran was made into a book in the time of the Messenger…. but it is evidence that demolishes the other thesis…….. Quran from the time of the Prophet was found
In the State Library in Berlin, the capital of Germany, pages of the Holy Quran estimated to have been written in the time of the Prophet were found. The Quran copies written on seven leaves of parchment are estimated to date from the years between 606 and 652.
The first written copy of the Quran was found in Berlin. In the State Library in Berlin, the capital of Germany, pages of the Holy Quran estimated to have been written in the time of the Prophet were found
It has been scientifically proven that the copies kept in the Berlin State Library, long estimated to have been written while the Prophet was alive, belong to that period. It was determined that the Quran copies written on seven leaves of parchment, examined in a laboratory in Zurich, date from the years between 606 and 652.
According to the report of the newspaper named ‘Maerkische Allgemeine Zeitung’, the State Library press spokeswoman Jeanette Lamble stated that the copies were examined in a laboratory in Zurich within the scope of a large-scale and long-term research project named ‘Corpus Coranicusm’. This project scientifically examines all Holy Quran copies found in Europe.
It is stated that these Quran copies in Berlin have been in the State Library for approximately a hundred years. It is estimated that the copies, inherited by a scientist living in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, were brought to Germany at the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century.

Manuscripts that may be the world’s oldest Quran were brought to light by the University of Birmingham in England. With the CARBON 14 test carried out, it was determined that the manuscripts are -at least 1370- years old. According to the BBC’s report; the pages belonging to the Quran remained unnoticed in the university’s library for about a century. After a doctoral student examined the pages, it was established that the manuscripts, subjected to a CARBON TEST at the University of Oxford, were written on sheep or goat skin. It has been scientifically proven by Carbon 14 and mushaf analysis tests that the copies kept in the Library of the University of Birmingham in England, estimated to have been written while Prophet Muhammad was alive, belong to that period. In the laboratory examinations carried out, the Quran copies written on goat or sheep skins are estimated to belong to the years between 568 and 645.
In the face of this situation, Dr. Muhammad Isa Waley, the British Library’s expert on sacred books, expresses his feelings in the form “that this exciting discovery will gladden the Islamic world”
Consequently, when the archaeological evidence is evaluated in the light of the Quran and logic, it has been scientifically explained that the claims made are invalid.
