The Qur'an is in its entirety the word of God, and there is no contradiction in it. It is the Book that God has sent down as a guide for His servants. In many verses God states that the Qur'an is the Book of truth and that He protects the Qur'an. Our Lord says in Surat al-Hijr:

"It is We Who have sent down the Reminder (the Qur'an) and We Who will preserve it."

Surat al-Hijr, 9

Therefore, if science proceeds along the path the Qur'an shows and as it directs, it can advance extremely rapidly along the path God has commanded. When it goes against the path the Qur'an shows, however, both the time and the material resources of scientists are squandered, and the pace of the development of science is cut short.

In science, as in every field, the truest path is the "path" that God has ordained in the Qur'an. As God has revealed:

"Truly this Qur'an guides to the most upright Way..."

Surat al-Isra', 9

They said, "Glory be to You! We have no knowledge except what You have taught us. You are the All-Knowing, the All-Wise."

Surat al-Baqara, 32
